One concert, two contrasting musical landscapes. Like a masterfully crafted clarinet symphony feast, this concert possesses both melodies as smooth as silk that gently caress the soul, and rhythms as fiery as a blazing flame that shake the very spirit.
The programme opens with four light and dazzling works: Piazzolla's Adiós Nonino – his signature piece written in memory of his father, filled with deep emotion and nostalgia; and Decarísimo, a tribute to tango master Julio de Caro, passionate yet graceful. Next comes István Kohán's Koncertstück à la Feidman No. 1, performed by 2 clarinet soloists Dr. Darren Ho and Mr. Desmond Tse – witty, agile, and full of charm. The section concludes with Arturo Márquez's Danzón No. 2, its rhythm bursting like Latin fireworks. This half is lively and spirited – a pure, infectious delight.
After the intermission comes the highlight: Music from Richard Strauss's opera Der Rosenkavalier. Here the revelry fades, giving way to the most touching lyricism of the late German Romantic era. The legend of the silver rose unfolds slowly, its magnificent melodies gently caressing the soul, transporting listeners into the twilight glow of a Viennese court.
In this performance, the CLARINAIZATION Ensemble brings together nearly all members of the clarinet family, guiding you through a night of extremes: ecstasy and romance, tavern and court. This musical journey awaits your presence.
